• 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I am Spanish, born in Madrid, but also always surrounded by inspirational teachers.

• 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  Rafa Nadal (and every athlete who is suddenly number one).Pau Gasol! Fernando Alonso! Our Golden Girls! Miguel Indurain! Our national soccer team when they started winning!

• 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

  "Vamos a preparar tortilla de patatas" :Nothing makes us prouder than cooking tortilla for foreign friends and seeing their expression change with pleasure and surprise when they taste it. With or without onion, let's not start that discussion.

• 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  It's the world's second language in terms of its number of native speakers. Dear Chinese speakers, we're coming after you!

• 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  The main difficulty in learning Spanish is related to inhibition, I encourage the student to be confident.
  The native language of the learner plays a big role, I show my students how close English is to the language they want to learn.
  As examples that represent the most original features of our language:
  1-Gender, number, and grammar agreement.
  2-Verbal forms: one must master the different verbal tenses in three moods: indicative, subjunctive, and imperative. Some verbal forms are regular and many others are irregular,
  3-"Ser y estar". We use these two verbs for functions which other languages solve with just one verb.
  4-Prepositions por and para.

• 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  Scoring high marks is not the most important thing, but listening to your teachers is. You would not understand at the moment, but their experience makes sense in the end.

• 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Spanish is my mother tongue, but learning English myself and living in Ireland has helped me to understand the way to teach why and how.
  By comparing English/Spanish will help my students to understand what is right in a particular situation.

  As a teacher, I make students feel comfortable to come up and talk to me about their needs, I provide them with everything they need, I have a dedicated passion for teaching ,especially English natives, because of my passion for their language and culture.
